How do I get started?

Whether you’re a grocery store, local farmer, or individual food donor — thank you for choosing to donate food to ESC. We’re dedicated to making the process of donating food as smooth as possible. In addition, we work hard to ensure that your donation makes it into the hands of those facing hunger quickly and safely.

Grocery Stores & Food Service Providers

ESC partners with a range of businesses to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste. We work with grocery stores, retailers, manufacturers, food distributors, convenience stores, restaurants, caterers, and hotels. With hundreds of thousands of San Diego residents facing hunger, your business can help by donating items you would normally discard.

By rescuing surplus food before it goes to waste, ESC helps distribute millions of meals to those facing hunger in San Diego County. We also make it easy for organizations and individuals in San Diego to donate food. *Starting January 1, 2022, Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) will require food generators to donate the maximum amount of edible food to food recovery organizations (such as Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank and Education Support Center) To receive and distribute donated food, we at Education Support Center partnered with Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank. Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank facilitates the easy, safe, and quick donation of food from grocery stores, convenience stores and food service locations to member food pantries or meal programs.
